Mother’s Day History – A Bit of Trivia

As Mother’s Day draws near, and we think about the meaning behind the holiday – it is interesting to note that moms, flowers, and celebrations have been associated with each other since the very earliest stories of culture. Down through all the ancient civilizations, the matriarchs of a family or clan were given special recognition, and often decorated with flowers during the ceremonies. To this day, flowers are the #1 gift given on Mother's Day, and here at Ron & Alicia Robinson Florist we couldn't imagine celebrating our Moms without flowers. But what is the Mother's Day history?   Read More about Mother’s Day History – A Bit of Trivia »

Daisy Floral Designs for April Birthdays

While most of the country is just starting to dig out from the last of the winter storms, here in California beautiful weather is a way of life. That being said, we do share one important aspect of springtime with people across the nation – the return of beautiful, bright flowers!  The official ambassador of April is the daisy – a flowering plant which symbolizes the innocence and childlike wonder of the spring season. There are over 23,000 species in the daisy family, with the most recognizable relative of the daisy being the sunflower. They are members of the Asteraceae family, so named because of the star-like shape of the ray petals. Other branches on the family tree include such popular flowers as dahlias, marigolds, and chrysanthemums; as well as strange cousins like lettuce, chamomile, and even artichoke! National Puppy Day Highlights Need for Rescue

The vast majority of Americans - over 90% - purchase gifts for their pets on holidays, and collectively we spend over $60 billion annually to care for our fur babies. There is no doubt that our pets are a cherished part of our lives. National Puppy Day, observed on March 23, was established with two primary goals in mind.  The first is to celebrate the companionship and joy that puppies add to our daily lives. But the main reason that Colleen Paige began this initiative was to advocate for puppy adoption from shelters - and to discourage prospective owners from dealing with notoriously inhumane puppy mills.  National Puppy Day affords us a wonderful opportunity to recognize those who have opened their hearts and homes to a shelter puppy, as well as to honor those who work in the Rowland Heights and Glendora area to rescue and rehome the most vulnerable of animals. Send the Luck of the Irish with Flowers

Three are many images that may come to mind when you think of St. Patrick's Day. Do you hope for the luck of the Irish, or go for the wearing of the green? Perhaps your favorite celebration is the big parade showcasing festive floats, or maybe you prefer sitting down with a green beer and a plate of corned beef and cabbage. It may be the music of the bagpipes or the pride in your heritage - but however you celebrate this popular holiday, you will likely be surrounded by shades of green. Ron & Alicia Robinson Florist have all the green flowers and plants you'll need to "go green" in Glendora, Whittier, and Rowland Heights.
